Nishijin Textile Center offers you the chance to see up close the weaving, dyeing and design processes that go into making these beautiful and highly ornate garments.

Avoid the tourists and head upstairs where you can see some traditional looms being operated by older Nishijin ladies, and, if you’re timing is right, you might catch a kimono fashion show – in which a series of superb kimono are modeled.
