Katsu

KatsuKura

This is one of Kyoto’s more popular restaurants, known for its quality and reasonable prices. It is housed in what was originally a large townhouse behind a store that fronted Sanjo-dori.

While waiting for your order you will be given a small ceramic mortar and bowl to grind sesame seeds. Tables are set with two sauces one for the deep-fried pork cutlet and the other, a citrus-flavored dressing, for the shredded cabbage salad. A container with extra rice comes with the food, and you can request additional shredded cabbage.

An English menu is available, and shoes may be worn inside.

Opening Hours: 11:00 – 10:00 Every day
